The formulas behind the calculator
- Tree size: your ceiling height minus 30 cm of clearance (10 cm for the stand, 20 cm for the topper and breathing room), then the closest standard tree size below that.
- Lights: tree height (ft) × 75, 100, 150 or 200 bulbs per foot — sparse, classic, rich or showstopper. Cluster lights need about half the fairy count.
- Baubles: roughly 15–45 per foot of height depending on the look, rounded to pack sizes.
- Tree skirt: a skirt should be about two-thirds of the tree’s width plus a hand of margin — around 60% of height + 15 cm.
